Hoyt Bleakley is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Michigan. He studies economic development, human capital, economic history, economic geography, and international macroeconomics. This has led him to do research ranging from the eradication of tropical diseases to language skills and immigration. He is also Research Associate Professor at the Institute for Survey Research and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. His articles have been published in the various professional journals such as the Review of Economics and Statistics, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, and the New England Economic Review. He is also a referee for numerous journals.

Bleakley earned both a B.A. and a Ph.D. in Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1995 and 2002, respectively.
