64 HCEO members participated in 63 different sessions at the ASSA meetings this year, and presented 71 on topics ranging from “The Demographic Consequences of Gender Selection Technology” to “A Neuronal Theory of the Decision Process”. Co-director James J. Heckman presented the Econometric Society Presidential address, speaking on “The Economics and the Econometrics of Human Development”. In addition, Professor Heckman’s new book The Myth of Achievement Tests: The GED and the Role of Character in American Life (co-edited with HCEO members John Eric Humphries and Tim Kautz) was released at the meetings.
