Abstract

The first volume in the series will feature new research on inequality in China, based on the papers presented at the Conference on Inequality in China, held at the University of Chicago Beijing Center on June 17, 2013.  The volume will present work on both the long term trends of income and wage inequality in China in the past three decades as well as the root causes of inequalities. This work will emphasize the effects of education, nutrition, and health investment in young children on inequality in China. The volume will provide a rich basis for future work on understanding and alleviating China’s economic disparities.
