Lu Mai has served as Secretary General of China Development Research Foundation (CDRF) since 1998. Under his leadership, CDRF has carried out various events and made great progress in all its activities of communication, training and research, achieving satisfying outcome, such as China Development Forum. He was the organizer and coordinator of China Human Development Report 2005, which received UNDP's 2007 Human Development Award for Excellence in Policy Analysis and Influence. Mr. Lu has extensive experience of rural reform in China. He was Director of Experimental Area Office for Rural Reform, Research Center for Rural Development of the State Council in the late 1980's. After obtaining the MA of Public Administration in 1991 from Harvard University, he worked as Research Associate at Harvard Institute for International Development and Department of Government. From 1994 to 1995 he was senior research fellow in Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He returned to Beijing in 1995 and has been working at the Development Research Center of the State Council since then. He is a member of the Science Committee of Ministry of Agriculture, the academic board for China Finance and Taxation Research Institute of School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University, the board for the Center of Industrial Development and Environmental Governance of School of Policy and Management at Tsinghua University, and the academic board for the China Institute for Reform and Development. He had been in charge of many important research projects for the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank. Mr. Lu also holds a BA in Economics from Beijing College of Economics.
