Both market designers and development economists are deeply engaged in translating economic insights from theory into practice. Nevertheless, their toolkits are quite different – and so far there's been little direct collaboration and exchange between them.

This conference will match market design experts with economists working on problems of incentive design, resource allocation, entrepreneurship, and health in developing countries. Each session will present an existing research project, followed by a (discussant-guided) conversation providing perspective and context from the market design literature.  We hope to generalize and expand from each project into a broader research agenda.
