The 2019 Human Capital and Economic Opportunity Global Working Group Summer School on Socioeconomic Inequality in Chengdu, China provided a state-of-the-art overview on the study of inequality and human flourishing. Participants learned about the integration between psychological and sociological insights into the foundations of human behavior and conventional economic models. Through rigorous lectures students were trained on various tools needed to study the issue of inequality.
 
The summer school was held at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in Chengdu, China from July 15 through July 19, 2019. SSSI Chengdu is organized by HCEO Co-Director Steven Durlauf, ECI network member Junsen Zhang, and Southwestern University of Finance and Economics Professor Li Gan, and was hosted by the Research Institute of Economics and Management.
