Haihan Tian is a Senior Research Analyst at the Center for the Economics of Human Development (CEHD) at the University of Chicago. His research focuses on labor economics, human capital formation, and early childhood development. He works with Professor James J. Heckman on developing learning models and decomposing treatment effects of early childhood intervention programs using data from the China REACH project. He also coauthored papers with Professor James J. Heckman that applies an economic framework to interpret Aristotelian virtue and model its formation processes, and investigating student athletes' educational and labor outcomes. His research has been featured by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), The New York Times Opinion, and VoxEU.

Haihan Tian received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics with Highest Distinction and Bachelor of Science in Political Science/Data Analytics from the University of California, San Diego, in 2022.
