The Markets Network investigates three broad areas of human capital financing over the lifecycle:

• development and implementation of empirical analyses determining which individuals have trouble financing human capital investments
• development of theoretical frameworks for analyzing how financial markets extend credit to individuals, and analysis of the optimal role of government policy
• innovation and analysis of financing investments in large groups of individuals that appear to be poorly served by government and more traditional financial institutions
